spark360 Behind The Scenes: Classic Blind Limited

Most small to medium-sized businesses reflect the passion and dedication of their founders. It’s not just the repetition of messaging points by most of the management at a certain company; it’s also evident in the way the rank-and-file carry themselves around the workplace. Warehouse workers look busy, but they’re also diligent and painstaking in their duties. Office personnel can be overhead speaking professionally and courteously to customers over the phone.

That’s the workplace environment we found at the Euless, Texas-based distribution center for Classic Blind Limited, a maker of high quality window blinds for many an apartment complex in Texas and the United States. It now wants to expand its potential audience to homeowners and others who want faux wood, aluminum and vinyl blinds covering their windows. And judging from what we saw on the day we shot the Classic Blind story, the company should have no problem fulfilling those customers’ needs.

We found a friendly office staff, led by manager Charlotte Leon who described to us in detail the complete order fulfillment process at Classic Blind. We tried to ignore all the “Twilight” memorabilia on her desk, but it was clear from our conversation that being a card-carrying Twi-hard wasn’t hampering her productivity. (Forgive me, but I can’t recall whether she was Team Edward or Team Jacob, and I certainly don’t want to upset her by putting her in the wrong camp.)

The warehouse crew was equally dedicated, and we want to extend our thanks to them for putting up with our shooting requests on what was a typically-scorching North Texas summer day in a hard-to-cool facility. The big fans the company had set up in the warehouse for relief had to be turned off for some of our interviews and b-roll shoots, and for that we always apologize.

Everyone we saw and interviewed expressed the same enthusiasm for the company and its reputation for fast customer service as its founder, Reed Way. In this particular economic climate, differentiating yourself from the competition can mean something as simple as an obsession for getting an order done right and done fast. Whether you’re selling apartment blinds or blinds for home and office – or both, as is now the case for Classic Blind Limited – you want to make sure you don’t bring down the curtains on any new business during a challenging economy.
